Accommodation

Our hostel is located in the valley of Mount Meru in a small town called Usa River. You will share a room with three other volunteers, equipped with two bunk beds, fan and mosquito net. Next to the room there is a bathroom with a shower and a western toilet (unfortunately we cannot always guarantee hot water - Welcome to Africa ;-) ). There is also a living room with chill lounge and dining area. Our kitchen is of course at your disposal if you want to store your own food in the fridge or chest. You can wash your clothes by hand in the traditional African way, we will provide you with washing bowls. Alternatively you can give the laundry to our staff for an extra charge. The garden can be used freely for relaxing.

From our hostel you have easy access to our projects and all kinds of facilities like stores, pharmacy, bank, hospitals, lodges with swimming facilities, restaurants with local and western cuisine.

In the morning we serve a continental breakfast with toast + butter, fresh fruits, chai tea, peanut butter and jam. Every day a typical African snack is provided such as mandazi, vitumbua, bagia, chapati, cassava or other surprises like pancakes and eggs. For dinner, rice, mashed potatoes, potatoes, chips or spaghetti with sauce, vegetables and salad are planned. Sometimes you will be surprised with African dishes such as ugali, pilau or chapati. In case of vegetarian/vegan diet or intolerances/allergies, please inform us to better plan your dishes.
