Nkoaranga Lutheran Hospital is located on the slopes of mount Meru and always fully focused on helping and overcoming any hurdle. In addition, by providing comprehensive primary care in Out-Patient Clinic and In-Patient Hospital, Nkoaranga Hospital provides services in Surgery, Maternal & Child, Diagnostics, Community Outreach and Education Capacity Building.

Nkoaranga Hospital is open all year round for qualified healthcare professionals and students who want to do an internship or volunteering in the medical fields that is particularly important here in Tanzania.

Nkoaranga Lutheran Hospital is known for its specialization in orthopedic surgery. But Nkoaranga Hospital offer a lot as mentioned where as a volunteer you can fit in;

Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, Palliative Care, Pharmacy, General Surgery, Urgent Care Clinical, Laboratory Services, Maternity and RCH, Radiology, Dental Clinic, CTC

Nkoaranga Hospital consists of 130 beds. Monthly more than 1200 patients in our OPD and IPD are attended. In collaboration with other health facilities inside and outside the Region, Nkoaranga offers a broad variety of services and has a clear referral system if needed.

If you are planning a fundraising campaign, we have put together a list of utensils and items that are always urgently needed

 

Oxygen concentration, Heart rate monitors, Blood sugar machines, Canulas, Stethoscope, Blood pressure monitors, Gloves and masks, thermometer, Asthma sprays, inhalers, Office supplies, Disposable gowns and clothing

 

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills and customer-oriented behavior, good dealings with patients and their families. Multitasking at the high pace of the hospital. Be able to stand for long periods of time. Good appearance, professionalism and appropriate time management.

Don't forget that most of the time you work closely with the local staff and you support each other wherever possible. Prospective medical students are not admitted.

 

Working hours

 

  • Morning shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Afternoon shift from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 

If you are interested in the night shift, please contact Matron on site. The working hours on this shift are from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

Special Notice:

  • Every volunteer must bring their own appropriate work clothes

  • It is not allowed to smoke anywhere on the hospital premises

  • Prospective medical students are not admitted

  • You have to dress appropriately for different work areas and tasks

  • Sandals, strong smelling perfume or large jewelry are not  allowed in patient buildings.

  • The facilities of the medical projects, such as Meru Hospital, charge an additional fee of 150$ per month, while Nkoaranga Hospital charges 200$. The money is required for the long-term improvement of the facility. You pay this money directly to the project.
