"PSTEEN SPECIAL TOUR" Safari
USAMBARA MOUNTAINS FROM EAST TO WEST - AMBONI CAVES - PANGANI HISTORICAL TOWN - MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK
(7 Days, 6 Nights)
Welcome to my special tour where I can show you the regions in which I was born and grew up, where I have seen mountaineering, hiking, beautiful beaches, swimming and wild animals. This tour combines everything you have to experience in beautiful Tanzania. Enjoy the full adventure of culture and nature in the places that have not yet been developed for tourism. A real insider tip.
NOTE: If you wish, you can team up with other travelers on a safari to save costs.
DAY 1
At 7 o'clock we start our drive from Arusha / Moshi to West Usambara. The drive there takes about 6 hours, but you will see a lot during the drive through many small towns and villages and you can observe nature and everyday life from the window. At 12 noon we stop at the Mombo Restaurant for lunch (well-prepared typical street food). Then we drive up to the mountains to Lushoto town where we will first check in at a lodge. Then we will have a little break before we will hike to the waterfalls and the Irente lookout point. Up there you can enjoy the beautiful sunset. After this beautiful experience we go back to our lodge where we will spend the night and end the day with a delicious dinner.
DAY 2
After breakfast we wake up and hike through the forest and villages to the Kigulu Caves, followed by a hike to Magamba Forest, where we will have a picnic lunch along the way. After lunch we will be picked up by the jeep and drive through the beautiful green landscape to the Magumba Hill Lodge, where we will register and rest until later. You can take a short sunset walk at Mambo View and then back to the lodge for dinner and evening rest.
DAY 3
Today we get up very early in the morning at 6 a.m., if you want you can see the sunrise from the lodge, because most of the time you have a clear view of the Kilimanjaro mountain (we will inform you about the exact sunrise time) Breakfast is ready at 7 a.m. and we will hike strengthened to a local woman. There we learn how to make a typical African saucepan. If you feel that you have enough energy, we can hike an additional 5 hours through the beautiful nature (lunch box included). We meet again at our jeep in Rangwi village and then drive to East Usambara Mountain. (The journey takes about 3.5 hours). When we arrive in the Magoroto Forest, we have time to relax. We will have dinner there in the camp and enjoy our overnight camping in the middle of the jungle with typical nature sounds. A really unique experience.
DAY 4
We wake up from the Magoroto Forest paradise with the motto “Magoroto Forest is for rest”. Those who still want to be active have various options around the lake such as fishing, canoeing, hiking to the waterfalls, playing darts, going for a walk in the forest or swimming in the cool water . (Horse riding and cycling is also possible on request and with an additional fee for the owner). We will enjoy a warm breakfast and a warm lunch together with the beautiful view of the lake including birdsong. At 3 p.m. we drive to Tanga City there we will have dinner together and then we will check in at Raskazane Beach.
DAY 5
After breakfast (8 a.m.) we drive about 1 hour to the Amboni cave tour, where you will be shown around by a local guide to explore the caves of Amboni, which are located near the West Indian Ocean. Here we will learn all about stalactites and stalagmite formation of this cave. After the tour of the Amboni Caves, we will have lunch in the city center. Followed by a 2.5 hour drive from Tanga City to the historic city of Pangani. Today we will spend the night at the paradisiacal Ushongo Beach where dinner will be served.
DAY 6
When you wake up, you'll have enough time to relax on the beach. This beautiful beach is still a real insider tip and not overcrowded. After lunch we drive towards Mkomazi National Park on the way we will have dinner before we go to our lodge.
DAY 7
Breakfast will be ready at 7am and after that we will drive to Mkomazi National Park, we will spend the whole day there and do game drives. A picnic lunch is served in the park.
The park is located between the Kilimanjaro and Tanga regions. It is also the border with Tsavo National Park in Kenya. The park is rich in mammal species including the Big 5 and over 450 species of birds.
This park is one of the richest savannas in Africa and possibly in the world in terms of the number of rare and endemic fauna and flora evidenced by the presence of wild dogs and black rhinos.
At 4 p.m. we start the drive back to Arusha with many memories of this "Big Adventure Trip". We stop for dinner in Moshi and continue to Kilimanjaro Airport and Arusha.
